How to change the alias in Microsoft account
The first question is what is Microsoft account ( Hotmail or Outlook) alias.
So if someone wants to have two email addresses in one account, the secondary email address is known as Alias in email accounts.
In this case, you don’t have to manage two email accounts separately, in just one login you have access to both the emails.
Let’s see how to set up or change the alias in Microsoft account
Step 1: Log in to your Microsoft Account (Outlook or Hotmail), click on the gear icon in the top right corner and select view all outlook settings as shown below in the picture.
On the next screen, you will see sync email under the layout.
Click on ‘manage or choose a primary alias‘ to change or add an alias on your email account as shown in the image below.
Now it will give you two options an email address or a phone number, click on the email address to add a new alias to your Microsoft account
you will be able to see your email address as the primary alias, as there is no other alias added to the account.
On the Add an alias screen, you have two options either you can create a new alias (like a new email address) or you can choose an old email address that has been closed previously.
Select the appropriate option and click on Add alias, As shown in the image below.
How to make added alias as the primary alias
Once the alias is added to the account, click on the Make Primary button next to it. As shown in the image below.
Once you make it primary all the email you will send will use the new alias to send out an email until you change it manually using the dropdown.
How to delete an alias
Simply click on the remove button which is below the alias to delete the alias.
Remember aias once removed can not be added to the same account before 30 days. So make sure you check twice before clicking on the remove button
